First Alert 2017F Security Chest is fire-resistant, waterproof and can protect media such as hard drives and CD/DVDs. Its waterproof seal protects your valuables for 8 hours even if the chest is 100% submerged in water or sprayed by water during fire-fighting. It will also float in an event of a flood.

This portable safe has also been awarded a UL classified 30-minute fire rating verifying that it will withstand an external temperature of 1550 degrees Fahrenheit, while maintaining an internal temperature of less than 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

This safe has been tested and verified by an independent test lab to be able to protect electronic media such as hard drives, CDs/DVDs and memory sticks.



For convenience, the safe offers a handle for portability and a clamp style latch and key lock (2 keys included)

The Digital Security Box with Security Cable from First Alert is a portable lock box ideally sized to house a laptop up to 17 inches or any other valuables of the same size or smaller. A programmable digital lock allows for the setting of a unique access code to open the box and in the event the code is ever forgotten an emergency override key (included) can be used to open it. The included security cable is 48 inches long connects the Digital Security Box to another object, such as a post, to keep the box from being moved or taken by anyone other than you. The security cable has 650 lbs of tensile strength which is the amount of force necessary in order to break the cable. A carrying handle makes traveling with the lock box convenient as it can be held just as a briefcase would be. The interior dimensions of the Security Box are 11.63" L x 16.63" W x 4.38" H making it perfect for storing and protecting important documents.
