Model: 2903
Descriptions:
James Williams is actively involved in teaching Military special operations and government security professionals who must at times perform their daily high-risk duties in environments which do not allow them to carry firearms or a large fixed blade knife such as the Hissatsu™. At training sessions and demonstrations, they have asked James to design a folder with the defensive power of the Hissatsu that can be a concealed carry in a pocket or clipped comfortably under a jacket. The result is the CRKT Hissatsu™ Folder. Blade length is 3.875", which is safely under the legal limit in most jurisdictions, while blade finish is in a non-reflective black coating.
The blade shape is a classical Samurai design which gives outstanding penetrating power as well as exceptional slashing performance. We have used our premium AUS 8 stainless steel for the optimum in strength and edge-holding ability with very good stain resistance.
For rapid deployment, we have incorporated our patented OutBurst™ assisted opening mechanism which instantly springs the blade fully open after you have opened the blade approximately 30°. To meet jurisdictional regulations, the OutBurst mechanism can be quickly disabled with a single setscrew.
As the blade is opened it locks automatically with our patented AutoLAWKS™ safety. This makes the Hissatsu Folder a virtual fixed blade, which is important in high-stress rapid-deployment situations.
We have used a heavy-duty version of our stainless steel InterFrame build with beefy 0.059" 420J2 stainless steel liners, one locking, and black glass filled nylon scales, textured to provide a secure grip. A thumb disk allows rapid opening with either hand, and the custom black stainless steel clip can be quickly and easily mounted right- or left-handed with a single screw, yielding a knife that is truly ambidextrous.
Here's a tactical knife for the professional that is overbuilt to last. For those who have a need to use it, this is as much defensive security as you can find in a tactical folder.

I would consider myself as a bit of a knife collector and I have just recently started to take notice of CRKT this is the second knife I have bought from them in the last month or so and I couldn't be happier with CRKT's service and quality. This knife just looks and feels tactical. I mean the size of the bolt alone says Bring IT. Not to mention how fast it opens with a strong secure locking sound this knife is a must have for any tactical knife fan.

nice enough knife, but its too stiff. the handle is a little large for the size of the blade, also. I like the way it operates, except for the amount of force it takes to get it open. I am used to big knives, and have big hands, but this one started to give me callouses on my thumb trying to open it. was going to give to my Dad for Fathers Day but I think I'll just keep it because there is no way he could open it, hes 70 years old.

First of all the knife is a great design....Saying that I am having a lot of trouble even getting it open at this point. The spring tension is very tight and will not allow the knife to come out of the handle with all of my strength. Looks like I will be dealing with CRKT customer service on this blade. ***CRKT RESPONSE - We appreciate the feedback Stephen. A popular misconception in the marketplace is that the Hissatsu Folder is "easy" to open or opens with ease. The Hissatsu Folder is a purpose driven knife, designed to deploy quickly, and built for professional use. There is an excellent video about the knife made by the Designer, James Williams here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsJf0OTwwzI If you are still unsatisfied with the knife, please let us know and we can get the situation resolved for you. Thanks again, CRKT

This knife is a mean piece of work worth the high rating. The outburst blade system flies open with an intimidating click, you feel the force of inertia as the large blade snaps into place and the entire handle buzzes for a moment from the outburst spring. The pocket clip is twice the width and length of my other CRKT knifes so it holds firmly. When folded the tip fits just a millimeter or so into the open sided handle – you can actually poke your finger on the blade tip with it folded in the handle if you try so watch it. The blade has a CRKT logo on one side and the other side has a ‘Hissatsu Folder’ stamp with some nice kanji symbols which I believe say ‘Product of Taiwan’. This is a folder that provides a great sense of security.

portland, ORi own this knife, and am very happy with it's design and function, overall. easy to carry, easy to open, and very sturdy. however, i really wish to god they have used a different steel, as AUS 8 is a very, very ho-hum steel in terms of edge retention. a knife of this quality should have had something a little more high-performance. moreover, the grind creates a very beefy edge -- CRKT could learn something here from their oregon competitors. if i manage to replicate the blade is a better steel, i will.
